This course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage health and safety in their workplace. This course covers topics such as health and safety legislation, risk assessment, incident investigation, and health and safety program management. Participants will learn about the responsibilities of emerging managers in ensuring a safe workplace and how to develop and implement effective health and safety policies and procedures. The course is intended for emerging managers, safety coordinators, and anyone who is looking to gain a deeper understanding of health and safety in the workplace. Instructional contact-time must be a minimum of 8 hours.

Introduction to Health and Safety for Emerging Managers: Overview of the importance of health and safety in the workplace, the role of emerging managers in promoting and maintaining health and safety in the workplace, types of health and safety risks and hazards that may be encountered in the workplace.
  2. Risk Assessment and Management:  Identifying and assessing potential hazards and risks in the workplace, evaluating the likelihood and impact of identified hazards and risks, implementing risk management strategies for health and safety in the workplace.
  3. Compliance and Regulations: Understanding federal and state regulations for health and safety in the workplace, familiarizing with the compliance requirements for different types of workplaces, identifying potential legal liabilities and liabilities in health and safety management.
  4. Emergency Planning and Response: Understanding the importance of emergency planning and response in the workplace, developing emergency response plans and procedures, training employees on emergency response procedures.
  5. Occupational Health and Safety Programs: Understanding the principles of occupational health and safety programs, familiarizing with the occupational health and safety programs for different types of workplaces, implementing appropriate occupational health and safety programs for different situations.
  6. Employee Training and Communication:Developing employee training programs for health and safety in the workplace, understanding the importance of effective communication and coordination in promoting and maintaining health and safety in the workplace, coordinating with relevant parties such as emergency services and other organizations.
  7. Case Studies and Real-world examples: understanding the application of health and safety management techniques in different settings, analyzing case studies of successful and unsuccessful health and safety management, Identifying best practices and lessons learned from real-world examples.
  8. Workplace Inspections and Audits: Understanding the importance of regular inspections and audits of the workplace, familiarizing with the inspection and audit requirements for different types of workplaces, implementing regular inspection and audit procedures for the workplace.
  9. Conclusion: Review of key concepts and best practices for health and safety management for emerging managers,  importance of ongoing commitment to safety and compliance with regulations, resources for further information and support.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
