This course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to manage the safety and health risks associated with storing, handling, and transporting chemicals. This course covers topics such as chemical hazard identification, risk assessment, safe storage and handling practices, emergency response, and personal protective equipment. Participants will learn about the dangers and hazards associated with chemical storage and how to develop and implement effective safety procedures to minimize risk and protect workers. The course is intended for workers in the chemical storage industry, safety officers, and anyone responsible for managing or supervising chemical warehouses. Instructional contact-time must be a minimum of 8 hours.

  1. Introduction to Health and Safety in Chemical Warehouses: Overview of OSHA regulations and standards for chemical warehouses,  Importance of safety and health in chemical warehouses, risks and hazards associated with chemical warehouses
  2. Chemical Hazard Identification and Assessment: Identifying chemical hazards in the warehouse,  Conducting a hazard assessment and developing a safety plan,  implementing safety procedures and protocols, regularly reviewing and updating the safety plan
  3. Chemical Safety Training and Education: OSHA and industry-specific safety training for handling chemicals, importance of regular safety training and refresher courses, identifying and training employees on specific hazards and safety procedures
  4. Equipment and Tools: Selection and maintenance of proper equipment and tools for handling chemicals, Importance of regular inspections and maintenance of equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and its proper use
  5. Chemical Storage and Handling: OSHA regulations and standards for storage and handling of chemicals, Implementing procedures for safe storage and handling of chemicals, Proper labeling, labeling and placarding of chemicals
  6. Emergency Response and Preparedness: Developing emergency response plans for chemical spills or releases, Training employees on emergency response procedures and hazardous materials response, Regularly reviewing and updating emergency response plans
  7. Fire Prevention and Protection OSHA regulations and standards for fire prevention and protection in chemical warehouses, implementing fire prevention and protection measures, training employees on fire prevention and protection procedures
  8. Conclusion: Review of key concepts and best practices for managing health and safety in chemical warehouses, importance of ongoing commitment to safety and health in chemical warehouses, resources for further information and support.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
