This course is to explain the fire and explosion hazards associated with flammable liquids and will help you determine how to control the risks in your workplace. It details practical measures to protect people at work and others who may be affected by the work activity of storing flammable liquids in containers up to 1000 liters capacity. After passing the associated exam or assessment at the end of this course, participants will be able to serve as a qualified professional and providing effective supports to the organization in safe storage of flammable liquids in containers.  Instructional contact-time must be a minimum of 8 hours.

This course will offer participants a detailed understanding in various segments, which are not limited to:

  1. Introduction to Handling and Storage of Flammable Liquids in Containers: Overview of OSHA regulations and standards for handling and storage of flammable liquids in containers, importance of proper handling and storage of flammable liquids, risks and hazards associated with flammable liquids.
  2. Flammable Liquids Classification: Understanding the different classes of flammable liquids and their properties, identifying flammable liquids and understanding their hazards, familiarizing with the labeling and placarding requirements for flammable liquids.
  3. Container Selection and Storage: Selecting the right container for flammable liquids based on their properties and quantity, Understanding the requirements for storage of flammable liquids in containers, such as location, ventilation, and fire protection, implementing procedures for safe handling and storage of flammable liquids containers.
  4. Transporting Flammable Liquids: Understanding the regulations and standards for transporting flammable liquids, Identifying hazards associated with transporting flammable liquids, implementing procedures for safe transport of flammable liquids.
  5. Emergency Response and Spill Containment: Developing emergency response plans for flammable liquids spills, understanding the requirements for spill containment and cleanup, training employees on emergency response procedures and spill containment.
  6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Fire Safety: Understanding the requirements for PPE when handling and storing flammable liquids, familiarizing with fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and fire alarms, Training employees on the use of PPE and fire safety equipment.
  7. Inspections and Maintenance: Understanding the importance of regular inspections and maintenance of containers and equipment, identifying and addressing potential hazards during inspections, implementing a maintenance schedule for containers and equipment.
  8. Conclusion: Review of key concepts and best practices for handling and storage of flammable liquids in containers, importance of ongoing commitment to safety and compliance with regulations, resources for further information and support.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
