This course is designed to eliminate the causes of fire, prevent loss of life and property by fire, and comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) standard on fire prevention, 29 CFR 1910.39. It provides employees with information and guidelines that will assist them in recognizing, reporting, and controlling fire hazards.It describes the fuel sources (hazardous or other materials) on site that could initiate or contribute both to the spread of a fire, as well as the building systems, such as fixed fire extinguishing systems and alarm systems, in place to control the ignition or spread of a fire. Instructional contact-time must be a minimum of 8 hours.

  2. Fire Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Techniques for identifying fire hazards in the workplace, how to conduct a risk assessment and evaluate the level of risk associated with identified hazards, strategies for reducing and controlling fire risks in the workplace.
  3. Fire Safety Procedures and Emergency Preparedness: Standard operating procedures for fire safety in the workplace, how to develop and implement fire safety procedures such as evacuation plans, fire drills, and emergency response plans, emergency preparedness and response planning for situations such as power failure, equipment failure, or fires.
  4. Fire Prevention and Protection Measures: Overview of fire prevention and protection measures, such as fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and fire extinguishers, how to properly use and maintain fire prevention and protection equipment, the importance of regular fire safety inspections and testing.
  5. Fire Safety Training and Education: The importance of fire safety training for employees, how to develop and conduct fire safety training programs, the role of fire safety education in promoting fire prevention awareness.
  6. OSHA Regulations and Compliance:Overview of OSHA regulations related to fire safety in the workplace, how to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, such as OSHA's Fire Protection and Prevention standard, training on OSHA regulations and compliance.
  7. Fire Safety in the Workplace: Overview of specific fire safety challenges and considerations for different types of workplaces, strategies for addressing fire safety challenges in industrial, commercial, and residential settings, understanding the unique fire safety considerations for high-rise buildings and other special occupancies.
  8. Fire Investigation and Reporting: Techniques for conducting fire investigations, how to report fires and incidents,how to identify and correct fire causes.
  9. Conclusion: Recap of the importance of fire prevention in the workplace, rhe role of a fire prevention plan in promoting safety and protecting property, the benefits of a comprehensive fire prevention plan in the workplace.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
