This course is about the design and operation of chemical plants and processes, particularly process chemists and process engineers. It provides information on the assessment of chemical reaction hazards for batch and semi-batch processes, including selecting and specifying a basis of safety. It sets out practical measures for the design, operation, and modification of chemical reaction processes. These measures are designed to protect people at work and others who may be affected by the operations. Instructional contact-time must be a minimum of 8 hours.

Our training solutions are developed and tailored by occupational health and safety experts to help organizations and individuals improve personal competence and skills – core enablers of sustainable business development and competitive advantage. Learn fundamental concepts and processes for implementing the right safety management system and occupational health and safety standards at your organization with our expertise.

This course will offer participants a detailed understanding in various segments, which are not limited to:

  1. Introduction to Safe Chemical Reaction Processes: overview of regulations and guidelines for chemical reaction process safety,  importance of designing and operating safe chemical reaction processes, risks and hazards associated with chemical reaction processes
  2. Chemical Process Safety Management: Understanding the principles of process safety management (PSM), implementing PSM programs and procedures, identifying and managing process hazards
  3. Process Design and Engineering: Designing chemical reaction processes with safety in mind, identifying and evaluating potential hazards during the design phase, implementing safety measures and controls during the design phase
  4. Process Operations and Maintenance: Implementing safe operating procedures for chemical reaction processes, conducting regular inspections and maintenance of process equipment, identifying and addressing potential hazards during operations and maintenance
  5. Chemical Reactivity Hazards: Understanding chemical reactivity hazards and how to manage them  identifying and evaluating potential reactivity hazards, implementing safety measures to control reactivity hazards
  6. Emergency Planning and Response: Developing emergency response plans for chemical reaction processes, understanding the requirements for emergency shutdowns and isolation, training employees on emergency response procedures
  7. Process Safety Information: Understanding the importance of process safety information (PSI),  identifying and collecting PSI for chemical reaction processes, communicating PSI to employees and relevant parties
  8. Auditing and Review: Conducting regular audits of chemical reaction processes,  identifying and addressing potential hazards during audits, reviewing and updating safety procedures and controls
  9. Conclusion:Review of key concepts and best practices for designing and operating safe chemical reaction processes, importance of ongoing commitment to safety and compliance with regulations, resources for further information and support.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.

Candidates will be provided a hard bound or soft material covering the whole course which can also be accessed through Phoenix LMS (learning management system) i.e. www.phoenixcpd.com

Successful candidates will be awarded with completion certificate awarded by Phoenix Safety Consultants UK

This course will be useful for a wide range of professionals including but not limited to:

  • Safety managers and coordinators having major responsibilities of occupational safety and health.
  • Supervisors and team leaders
  • Environmental health and safety specialists
  • Construction workers and site managers
  • Manufacturing and industrial plant workers
